- How does a bail bond work?
- A bond is similar to a check. It is given to the court and only cashed if the defendant fails to make their court appearance.
- What is the cost for using a Bail Bondsman?
- Nevada has a set bond cost which is no more, and no less than 15%.
- For example, if a bond is set at $20,000 the cost (premium) is $2,000.
- Who can bail out?
- Yes, anyone can bail out as long as the court grants it.
- If the defendant misses court what happens to the co-signer? What then happent to the defendant?
- The defendant can get a motion to squash the warrent if they meerly "forgot" to show. The defendants attorney can request this for him. If the warrent is not cared for in a timley manner, a bounty hunter will return them into the courts custody. At this point the cosigner will be responsible for all fees and charges.
